Introduction
DevTools ("we," "our," or "the service") is a collection of free online developer tools including a JSON formatter and UUID generator. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
The most important thing to know: all data processing happens entirely in your browser. Your JSON data, generated UUIDs, and all tool inputs are never transmitted to our servers or any third party. There is no backend server that receives or stores your input.
Information We Do Not Collect
We want to be clear about what we do not collect:
- Tool input data — Any JSON you paste, upload, or load, and any UUIDs you generate, are processed entirely within your browser using JavaScript. Nothing is sent to any server.
- Tool preferences — Indentation settings, UUID format options, sort key preferences, and other tool options are handled in your browser's memory and are not tracked or stored remotely.
- User accounts — We do not require or offer user accounts. There is no registration, login, or profile system.
- Personal information — We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any other personal identifiers.
- Bulk generation data — UUIDs you download or copy in bulk never reach our servers.
Information Collected Automatically
When you visit DevTools, our hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages) may automatically collect certain standard web server log information, including:
- IP address (used for security and abuse prevention)
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Referring URL
- Pages visited and time spent
- Date and time of access
This information is collected by Cloudflare as part of their standard hosting infrastructure and is subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy. We do not have direct access to individual-level log data.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Essential Cookies
Cloudflare may set essential cookies for security purposes (such as bot detection and DDoS protection). These cookies are necessary for the website to function properly and cannot be disabled.
Third-Party Advertising Cookies
We may display advertisements through Google AdSense. Google AdSense uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ad Settings or by visiting www.aboutads.info.
For more information about how Google uses data from sites that use their services, please visit Google's Partner Sites Policy.
Third-Party Services
DevTools uses the following third-party services:
- Cloudflare Pages — Website hosting and content delivery. Subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
- Google AdSense (if applicable) — Advertising. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to any other third parties.
Data Security
Since your data is processed entirely in your browser and is never transmitted to our servers, the primary security consideration is your own device and browser. We recommend:
- Keeping your browser up to date
- Being cautious when loading JSON from untrusted URLs
- Clearing your browser's clipboard after copying sensitive data
The website is served over HTTPS, ensuring that the tool's code is delivered securely to your browser. UUID generation uses the browser's cryptographic random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), ensuring generated identifiers are not predictable.
Children's Privacy
DevTools is a general-purpose developer tool and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including:
- Right to access — You may request information about what data we hold about you. Since we do not collect personal data, there is typically nothing to disclose.
- Right to deletion — You may request deletion of any personal data we hold. Since we do not store personal data, this right is satisfied by default.
- Right to opt out of tracking — You may opt out of personalized advertising through the Google Ads Settings link above, or by using browser extensions that block third-party cookies.
- The right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
